How to Use the Comparison Tool

Examine several assets using the same historical period and compare their results in a common chart and table.

1

Select the period

Choose 1 Week, 1 Month, 4 Months, 1 Year or 2 Years. The selected period determines the historical window displayed in the comparison chart.

2

Select up to three assets

Choose individual companies or market indexes. You can compare companies with each other or use an index such as the S&P 500 as a reference.

3

Examine the results

Compare the lines in the chart and then examine the historical indicators, KNZ Score, sector and latest available date in the table.

What does the chart show?

The comparison chart displays the historical percentage variation of each selected asset over the chosen period. The series are shown together so that their relative movements can be examined using the same time window.

A value above zero represents an increase relative to the beginning of the selected period, while a value below zero represents a decrease.

Why compare the same period?

Using the same historical window provides a common reference point for the selected assets and avoids comparing one asset over a short period with another over a longer period.

Short periods emphasize recent movements, while longer periods provide a broader historical perspective.

Understanding the Available Periods

1 Week

Useful for examining very recent historical price movements.

1 Month

Provides a broader view of recent market behavior.

4 Months

Provides a medium-term historical comparison.

1 Year

Provides a broader reference covering approximately one year of historical performance.

2 Years

Provides a longer historical perspective and can reveal differences that are less visible over shorter periods.

Using the KNZ Score in a comparison

The KNZ Score is a statistical indicator developed by KNZ Charts to summarize historical price behavior across multiple time horizons.

Within the KNZ methodology, higher values represent relatively stronger historical behavior, while lower values represent relatively weaker historical behavior.

The score is best interpreted together with the historical performance indicators rather than as a standalone measure.

KNZ Score is not a forecast

The KNZ Score is calculated from historical data. A positive score does not guarantee future appreciation, and a negative score does not guarantee future losses.

Historical relationships can change as market conditions, company fundamentals, interest rates, economic conditions and investor expectations change.

Examples of Useful Comparisons

Stock vs. S&P 500

Select an individual stock together with the S&P 500 (^GSPC) to provide a broader U.S. equity market reference.

Two companies

Compare two companies over identical historical periods to examine differences in their historical performance.

Three companies

Compare a group of three companies at the same time to examine differences across several assets.

How to interpret a comparison

Start by examining whether the selected assets moved in the same direction during the chosen period. Then compare the magnitude of their historical changes and consider the broader market reference when an index is included.

The table provides additional historical horizons of 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 120 days and 360 days. These different windows can reveal whether recent historical performance differs from longer-term behavior.

These indicators describe historical observations. They should not be interpreted as forecasts of future returns.
